The Civic Information Index is a national initiative that measures how well communities provide access to civic information and foster public engagement. Backed by leading researchers and nonprofit partners, the Index translates complex civic data into actionable insights for policymakers, journalists, and citizens.
The challenge
The Civic Information Index team needed a way to bring complex research on civic engagement and access to information into a format that would be clear, accessible, and engaging for the public. The project required a digital tool that could handle significant data complexity while still offering an intuitive, user-friendly experience.

Our team designed and built the full technology stack that powers the Civic Information Index. This included architecting the data infrastructure, developing custom interactive visualizations, and ensuring the platform could scale as new data and insights are added. We focused on a clean, responsive design that makes it easy for users to explore and compare civic information across communities.
